BBQ Grills For Sale

I am in the middle of building a very Big BBQ grill. I need some help though, to hook in burners to the propane. The burners came with a hose, but I am not sure what I need to do to connect the gas line to the burners hoses. I have decided that I am not using a conventional valve to turn the gas on, so I will need to fabricate a fitting in order to hook them in. Does the fitting have to be very tight? Is it ok to have holes for air to enter the mixture? Absolutely any help with this at all would be just great! Thank you so much, in advance!

I found an old grill at a garage sale and thought of buying it, rather than purchasing a new one. However, they told me that they havent touched it all in at least 10-15 years. Its been sitting outside, under a grill cover for that whole time. Is it still safe to use it? What about if I buy a new propane tank for it?
